Moving On

When my brother passed away, I found a collection of old Sprague High School choral songs that my brother had converted from cassette tape to MP3 files. I know he listened to music a lot and it brought him joy. One of the songs on the tape was about grief. These lyrics ring true to me. Grief is real and can be overwhelming. But, it's time to move on. I love you, Andrew! Thank you for listening to my music!

ANTHONY O'DALY

Since your limbs were laid out

The stars do not shine,
The fish leap not out

In the waves.
On our meadows the dew

Does not fall in the morn,
For O'Daly is dead

Not a flower can be born,
Not a word can be said,

Not a tree have a leaf;
Anthony, after you
There is nothing to do,

There is nothing but grief.

Insert Summer Fun!!

Summer is here! So much is going on and we're behind on the posts, but oh well :) Josh graduated Kindergarten [insert blog post here for later] and we've moved on to the joys of summer break!!

Outside of the neighborhood pool getting a face-lift, basketball camps, swim lessons, organizing rooms, catching up on laundry, [insert long list of chores here], etc. we did make it over to San Diego for a quick vacation.

San Diego is a great way to start off the summer! The boys went to some Mariners vs. Padre Games, we all went to LegoLand, and even got to swing over to L.A. for a quick visit to meet Baby Elijah! It was such a blast. [insert photos here to document the FUN!]

Happy Mama's Day!

We've had a lot of fun these past few days, and the Rickey Mama couldn't be prouder of her boys.

A Mother's Day Tea was served at the school (which was actually apple juice and cookies). So cute.

The boys surprised Mom and we went on a shopping trip. How sweet! We ended with awards at the church for the boys Caravan scouting program. They worked so hard this year!

So blessed to be a Mama! Happy Mother's Day to all the great mama's in our lives!

It was a fun weekend recently where we celebrated Jacob's 8th birthday! We went to "Casey At The Bat" which is a sports complex with kickball, flag football, batting cages, mini golf.... Basically every young boy's dream. So proud of our special kid who is growing WAY too fast!!

Tackling 2013

Our start to the New Year has us tackling 2013! Tackle football, that is. Yes, both boys are in the winter league of NYS tackle football. We must say, they LOVE it very much. Jacob is on the Desert Ducks, while Josh plays for the Talons (Jacob's team from last season). Photos below include Josh's practices and game thus far. Josh plays Center with the honorary #65, just like his Uncle Kyle. More to come on Jacob's efforts next week!
